Weekly Devotions: Praise God

Weekly Devotions: Praise God

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations. Psalms 100

There is not much more to say about this passage – it says it all.

We shout with joy to the Lord, serve Him with gladness, come before Him with joy filled singing. There is just so much to give God praise for. Yet, there are so many challenges that we face in life and marriage. That can make praising God challenging in the most difficult times in our marriage. So David tells us we find the perspective to praise God when we know that the Lord is God and He made us – we did not make ourselves.

I love that thought because it helps to take away my anxieties. I used to want to be someone else and to look a different way, to have more and to be more. But doesn’t God bring us to a place of peace where we can say, I am how and who I am because that is how God made me, and I am ok with who I am. That peace becomes our source of joy and gives us the strength to sing with joy and be comfortable in our own skin.

This week spend time talking about Psalm 100 as a couple, use it as the backdrop for your prayers for each other and your marriage and then take some time to help each other memorize it.

Give thanks to Him, bless His name, For the Lord is good

Oh…so True! I’m not the same person I was when I was in my 20s or 30s. In my 40s, I’ve come to accept who I am and enjoy the love and life GOD has chosen for me. I’m not rich in wealth, but in life and all it has to offer especially for the love He has for me an ALL that he has brought me through. Hallelujah!
