2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;
In every aspect of being alive, there is a fight to be had – and therefore a fight to be won! Being married is no different. There are so many fights to be had in marriage. But, I am not talking about fighting against each other, shouting matches or arguments, per se.
The real fight of marriage is in our mind and heart. It is the fight to stay committed. When our relationship is strained, perhaps because of an argument, or because of every way in which the two of you are so very different, commitment is the difference.
So whatever the realities are in your marriage – fight. The fight for your marriage is waged in faith. Faith in what God can do. Beyond our views of each other, commit and recommit to your faith in God – as a couple. As a husband, fight for your family through your faith in God. As a wife, fight for your family through faith in God.
At the end of his life, Paul could say, I have fought the good fight of faith, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. Fight to someday be able to proclaim the same in your marriage: Fight the good fight of faith, get back on and finish the course that God set your marriage on when you first began, then keep the faith.
What to Do :
- This week, make a list or lists of the challenges in your marriage.
- Commit to just 5 minutes this week reading the Bible and praying for your marriage – just 5 minutes. There is nothing magical about 5 minutes or even praying. But it is the fight of faith and in it you will see God do His work in your marriage.
God Bless – Have a Great Week!
