God’s Blessing Is On Your Marriage

God’s Blessing Is On Your Marriage

What does it mean to be blessed? It is one of those “Sunday Morning” words that often gets used, but the meaning sometimes gets, “lost in translation”. To be blessed literally is to be happy or fortunate. What I like about it though, is that being blessed in Christ is not dependent on the weather or our financial situation or whether we are happy, sad, mad or glad at the moment. Rather, being blessed in Christ is a state of happiness and fortune that is permanent and durable.

Of course, no one walks around smiling all of the time. Surely there are some not so happy days, every now and then. However, the facts of our salvation remind us to look up to see positive, in negative, and cherish that with breath in our bodies and relative portions of mental clarity we really are blessed. Reminds me of that children’s song we used to sing , “If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands, if you are happy and you know then your face ought to show it, if your happy and you know it clap your hands”. So today, where ever the Lord has you and your marriage, thank God for the blessings of life. Everything may not be well, or maybe today is a great day, whatever the case, thank God for what we still have and the blessing of knowing that He is still able to do whatever it is we need him to do.

Psalms 1

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.

Be blessed.

How I think about marriage reflects forgiving those who have misused me, and not putting myself in a position to allow it to happen again. Also, make an effort to understand yourself better. In a marriage realize after all, that you are human. Even though I have suffered abuse in my marriage God’s delays are not God’s denials. Seeds will sprout in my marriage based on God’s will. So how I think about marriage relates to God being the focus of my marriage.
