There have been several exciting things going on over the last few months, with the blog and the “ministry” to Christian couples through EYM. 2012 was a great year and the blog really took some “cool” steps forward. So we are praying to continue moving forward in 2013. There are a few projects with larger marriage and family ministries that we are looking to share with you later in the year. It is just a great time to be serving Jesus and let’s all pray that all of the ministries working to strengthen families, that they find God’s strength to serve Him completely.
So, one thing that I really wanted to share today is a new book project that I could use some help with. While in Ghana last year, I began writing a 3rd book. I guess it helps to hang around such an awesome group of authors. Anyway, in the next few weeks the book, Elevate Your Marriage: 7 Practices of Highly Intimate Couples will be coming out.
The basic premise is that the things that typically divide couples, can, in a Christian marriage, be flipped around and instead be used to bring us closer together. For example, instead, of fighting or stressing about money it can become a connection point where “financial intimacy” replaces arguments. In each of the seven areas in the book, from sex to setting priorities to how we interact with each other to managing money, the “practice” involves elevating our marriage above just husband and wife to see Christ more prominently in the marriage. As I did in my first two books, the message is wrapped around the relatable stories of married couples in the Bible. Couples from the Bible that experienced the same points of “disconnection”, around the same issues, that marriages today do. Marriages like Moses and Zipporah or Ahab and Jezebel – they each tell a story that we can both connect with and connect our own marriage around.
So here is the “I Need Help” part. I really believe that couples at different stages of their marriage can be blessed by looking at Christ differently. But to reach them, I need your help to get this message to where the Christian couples are. So…if you think that Christian couples in your church or area could benefit from increasing their view of Christ in key areas of their marriage, areas that we don’t typically relate to God, then please reply to this post or inbox me the names and addresses of the Christian bookstores in your area. If you have a contact name that would be great too. I will take care of contacting them and doing what I can to bring Elevate Your Marriage to your city or town. Prayerfully, we will be able to build a database of bookstores carrying the book right on the blog-site.
As always, thanks for your prayers and support as we all grow together, in marriage and in Christ.
