I’d love to have a chance to talk to whoever it was that said men aren’t supposed to cry. For some reason, it seems like society has become convinced that only women have emotions and if a man shows emotions, he must be feminine rather than manly. Except anger, of course. Anger is different – [...]
It is not a matter of what Scriptures we should use in specific situations – almost like a band aid over a cut. Rather, when challenges come, what is already in a person’s heart? Because when life squeezes us, only what is inside will come out. So whether we sow an abundance of reality shows and idle time into our hearts or God’s Word, what is in us is what is coming out.
One of the most frequent questions that people ask is, “How do you hear from God?”. I can’t help but think of the reality show, The Voice. The judges sit in big chairs, with their back turned to the singer and they listen to the voice of the singer. They don’t get to use their [...]
One of the first questions I like to ask couples is, “How is your relationship with Christ?”. It is a question that gets a wide range of responses, with the most frequent being something related to church attendance. But having a relationship with Christ goes well beyond just attending church on Sunday. It is in how husbands and wives interact with Jesus the other six days of the week, that either drives strength into or out of their relationship. Matthew 18:19-20 [...]
Yesterday we shared the first of our 3 day series on the “Big Three” areas of challenge in relationships. The whole idea of financial infidelity that we talked about yesterday is that it drives couples apart. Today, in Part 2, we look at becoming, being and remaining intimate.
The idea of intimacy entails [...]
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as to the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Early in my life I was [...]
Over the next 2 months I will be officiating at least 5 weddings. What does that mean? It means it is officially “Wedding Season”. In the first post of this series we talked about the need and ways in which newlywed or engaged couples can build a marriage union that interacts with Christ [...]
Over the next few months many couples will be “tying the knot”. The flowers have been ordered, the tux’s picked out, the videographer and photographer, have been lined up and the church is reserved. Now for the important stuff…
The most important thing to do before saying “I do” is to make sure your relationship [...]
We never envisioned when this blog started just 13 months ago that we would have the chance to interact with so many marriages from all over the world. What has amazed me, is that regardless of the country, or the language – struggle is common to all marriages. For some struggle is momentary, for others [...]
