Joseph and Mary: The Heart’s Treasure

Those who heard about this series of events wondered about their meaning and significance. Mary, on the other hand, treasured them (Luke 2:19). She placed a high value on the birth of her child who was conceived while she was a virgin, was prophesied to be the Messiah while she was pregnant, and whom angels appeared to glorify God when His birth. Mary took hold of the fullness of the moment and valued its significance properly. Others may have found it interesting, but they missed the scope of what was happening in that moment.

God sends his angel Gabriel to speak to Joseph in a way he could understand, yet Gabriel can also speak to Mary in a way that she could relate to, also. And it is pretty amazing to me – to Joseph, Gabriel tells him what to do, “get up and go”. That is what Joseph needed to hear, that is how a husband needs to be talked to. On the other hand, Gabriel tells Mary not what to do, but who she is.
